Trip Report: San Francisco Zoo, South San Francisco

Feeding the giraffeSaturday, July 24, 1999

I've always thought it appropriate that one of our loveliest body parts is the organ with which we see. At our July Weekend outing, a motley crew of us got to look into the beautiful eyes of several giraffes up close as we fed them acacia leaves. In addition, we were privileged to view the zoo through the eyes of dedicated zookeeper, CMC member, and our guide, Amy Bono-Kruckewitt. Amy cares for the primates at the zoo. She shared some of her thoughts about the animals, the purpose of zoos and taught us all (and I mean, ALL, down to the youngest child) the difference between apes and monkeys.

Thanks to Amy Kuettner for arranging the trip and to Amy B-K for hosting us at this enjoyable and educational outing.
