Filoli is a different place every time you visit. In mid-April, the buildings are draped in wisteria and
tulips display everywhere you look. By
the end of May, the blooms are off the wisteria, no tulips are in sight. But roses of all kinds scent the air.
Spending time at Filoli is like visiting
your extremely well-off friend's mansion when your friends have just stepped out for an hour.
The incredible gardens are tended by volunteers, who also create the lovely flower arrangements
using specimens from the gardens. You can wander through most of the gardens and the house year round.
Hours are fairly limited -- 10 to 3:30; last admission at 2:30.
Visit on a weekday; Filoli gets crowded on weekends.
